The recently announced proposal for a new five-story, $15 million condominium project has ambitious plans to create a green environment not yet seen in the Sacramento region.

Named Gateway on Fremont Park, the project is expected to produce as much or more energy than its residents consume, a situation known as net-zero energy.

But the more ambitious plan is to have a farm on the roof that can grow crops and breed fish to be served in the ground floor restaurant.

The developer of the project is Sukna Global Holdings Inc.  The project is proposed for southeast corner of 16th and P Streets  just across the corner from our SacramentoCondos.com office at 1520 P Street.

Pricing is expected to be in the range of 375,000-$565,000.

The land is currently owned by CADA and will require CADA to donate the land to the developers as well as refund the “tax increment” created by the project for the next 20 years, estimated to be between$1 million and $1.8 million.

It looks like a great project that will transform the area around Fremont Park but we’ll have to wait and see with Governor Brown’s plans to eliminate redevelopment districts but this project appears to be exactly what a redevelopment district would ideally be used for.
