Many of our condominium clients and SacramentoCondos.com users have asked me what the terms grey-shell, vanilla-shell and designer-ready means when purchasing a hi rise condominium.  Grey-shell units are usually penthouses and they usually come unfinished, this means no drywal, flooring, bathrooms or kitchens.  Vanilla-shell is used to describe a unit that has drywall, electrical, plumbing but many times no fixtures such as kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, lighting etc.  Designer-ready is describing a unit with everything usually but the flooring.  These are things you would ask your sales rep during your purchase period.
